Dear IWIL Members,
March is an exciting time for IWIL with the roll out of our new website! Can you feel it? March is HERE — and with it comes one of my absolute favorite times of year! Women’s History Month is the perfect backdrop for everything Illinois Women in Leadership stands for, and I couldn’t be more excited about what we have in store for you this month. International Women’s Day is March 8, which is observed every year. The 2026 United Nations theme is “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL women and girls. Take a moment on March 8 to honor the women who inspire you and to recognize the inspiration you are to others.
This month, we celebrate the trailblazers, the boundary-breakers, and the everyday leaders who show up with courage and grace. That means every single one of you! We encourage you to share your own stories of leadership this month — on social media, with your colleagues, and within our community. Post it, say it out loud, and tag us and let’s celebrate together!
Get ready for a night of connection, conversation, and celebration! Our March Spring Social is happening on: March 26, 2026, Brinkerhoff Mansion, 1500 N. 5 th Street, 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm. Theme: Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory! Whether you’re a longtime member or brand new to our community, this event is the perfect place to mix, mingle, and make meaningful connections with some truly
incredible women.
Why March matters for all of us…March reminds us that our voices, our ambitions, and our leadership matter—now more than ever. IWL exists because of women like you who show up, lift others up, and refuse to shrink. This month let’s lean into that energy together and make some noise!
I am so grateful to lead this incredible organization alongside all of you. Here’s to a March full of growth, laughter, and powerful women doing powerful things!
With excitement and gratitude,
Debbie Thompson
